We see historic buildings re pointed with cementitious materials weekly, almost always causing penetrating damp. This is because older buildings where built to breathe through the pointing as there was no such thing as cavity walls back in the day. Lime mortar has the ability to breathe preventing damp and moisture building up in a building. We help decide what the most suitable mortar is to use. We then rake out the effected area and our skilled craftsman can re point in various different styles, using heritage mortar. This allows the wall to breath and restores the authentic appearance of the building back to its former glory.
