St Mary’s church, Tufton.
Areas of the ceiling had fallen at St Mary’s church. After closer inspection by a independent surveyor, they found that most of the plaster was unstable. We Immediately installed netting under the ceiling which allowed the church to still have services while we got listed building consent to carry out the repairs.
A internal scaffold was installed and the plaster ceiling was removed. The damaged Laths where repaired and we re-plastered all areas of the ceiling that you can see in the pictures below. Protecting the historic rafters was a main priority so each individual rafter was wrapped in plastic sheeting.
External plaster and roof works where also carried to reduce leaks and damp areas in the church which was the main reason for the plaster falling in the first place.
